@TylerDane5 years agoHey Grant, if you want to have less glow from the backlight while still keeping the bright rim, use a spot lamp instead of a sun lamp. 5

@ccornelissen29803 years agoGreat quick overview ! I use the backlight very bright and in sharp downwards angles to make a subject really pop out of dark backgrounds. The only downside with photorealistic rendering is that if you have glossy objects you have multiple speculars. I like NPR (toon shading) and I use the 3point lamps in RG or B so you can isolate each light source. This way you can set the specular to just the key light and with a mapping node you can even shift its position. Ok it’s not realistic but gives a lot of artistic possibilities. Do you know is there’s a comparable solution for photorealistic rendering? I’ve been fooling around with light path nodes and stuff but can’t get good results ...

@selv_5 years agoWould love tutorials or even a mega video on modifiers. I'm trying to practice using the mirror tool and subdiv tool and often when I attempt to apply it ruins the model or there is some issue I just don't understand. I've done all your tutorials but often I feel like someone who just opened Blender for the first time when it comes to these modifiers. ...1

@BurtonJamesFurniture5 years agoIs there a reason you used sun lamps vs area lamps? I've always used area lamps because I find it easier to control how sharp your shadows are but when you're going for soft shadows I suppose it doesn't much matter ...1
