Seriously, this is very different from what I think of when I think 'MIM Strat'. ***************************** 60CH on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/60CycleHumcast Buy Something with our affiliate links: Buy a Shirt - https://teespring.com/stores/60-cycle-hum Sweetwater: https://imp.i114863.net/rMb1D zZounds: https://www.zzounds.com/a--3980929 Thomann: https://www.thomannmusic.com/thlpg_1a2l8gl9bs.html?offid=1&affid=405 Amazon: https://amzn.to/2PaUKKO Perfect Circuit: https://bit.ly/3YQG309 Ebay: https://ebay.to/2UlIN6zReverb: https://reverb.grsm.io/60cyclehum61646164 Cool Patch Cables: https://www.tourgeardesigns.com/discount/60cyclehum +++++++++++++++++++++ Social Media Stuff: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/60cyclehum/ Discord: https://discord.gg/nNue5mPvZX Instagram and Twitter @60cyclehum TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@ 60cyclehum? @bonedale3 years ago im just glad to see a chrome cover humbucker on any level of strat. Why that was so hard is beyond me. 117
  • @
@proteusswarm72913 years ago MIM fenders have been really good for a couple decades. The real question is when did they start costing a thousand dollars? 227

@ledhendrix50543 years ago I purchased a Mexican Strat in the mid 90s Ryan and ive still got it , great guitar from the start.
You can buy a Fender Strat made in Mexico by Mexicans , or by a Fender Strat made in America made by Mexicans

@lassesuurmunne83403 years ago Man your playing has improved so much, absolutely loved that intro you did! Love the cosmic jade colour of this strat! I just bought the player plus telecaster today in the same colour. The necks are so nice that they honestly feel like they’re punching way above their weight. They don’t feel like Mexican Fenders. I’m kinda blown away by the player plus series. People really need to try em. Impossible to describe how nice they. ... 14

@grahamnunn89983 years ago ^Go home, tell your middle pick-ups you love them" is definitely this week's classic quote. Robin Trower made a career from the middle pickup. Jordan Kaukonen was a fan too. Great video Ryan. 9

@barthrvatin82973 years ago Thanks for making this video! After 15 years of being a Tele guy, this might be my first Strat. You made that split coil bridge sing, with excellent right hand technique. Cheers! 3

@sassycat3 years ago A great video review, your enthusiasm for the guitar is palpable. Yours is the first review I've watched that had a favorable opinion on the pickups, which means that a trip to my nearest Fender dealer is in order.

@drawingactionfigures3 years ago Great guitar, playing, and demo! Love the colour, and the finish definitely plays a role for me. Thanks.

@coconutmwb632 years ago Thanks for this review, I just picked up a mim strat from 93 that had been sitting unplayed for nearly 30 years but I wanted to get a loaded pick guard w/hss and stumbled across the same as you have. I set it up and was curious about the range or lack of in the knobs so I am glad you mentioned that sets me at ease there is nothing wrong with my set up. By the way the pickguard was only played a couple time before the guy changed it out so I feel like I have an old/ modern flawless mim hss strat. Watching this video has me excited about putting it to the test. Thanks again. ... 1

@captaintony12273 years ago I really like the finish on that guitar 7
  • @
@mindfall823 years ago I love that color! And the pickups sound great. I usually have my go to brand and change them out and on put locking tuners but wouldn't have to change a thing! 2

    @djm38413 hours ago Amazing demo!
Full of different and very accurate tests with explanations of all the elements of the guitar.
    Understandable even by beginners.
    THANK YOU !

@SamNiverbalast year Thanks for this video Ryan😃💚
I watched this review before picking one up on December 30, the same Cosmic Jade, and me and my brother absolutely love this guitar. Our First Fender💚
  • @
@damagecontrol603 years ago Ryan what I love about your reviews more than most other reviewers is that you stay clean so much - you can really hear what the pick ups do… plus you play chords and single note… before you get dirty… I also agree about the middle pickup! I have a candy apple red MIM tele maple neck from the 1990s and it is excellent ... 6

@robertdearden34343 years ago Fantastic intro I really enjoyed it. Thank you.
  • @
@christopherguzzi13163 years ago That's a pretty sweet green color. I love my lake placid blue player Stratocaster. It has 22 frets with slightly rolled edges, a 9.5 radius, and perfectly smooth frets. But honestly, it might benefit, for me, from a hot rails humbucker addition. And while I kind of feel that the neck is a bit too thin, it plays really fast. ... 1
  • @
@KingLoopie13 years ago Wow!! That cosmic green is really an eye popper! Not usually a fan of all green but that's really beautiful! Ryan, you're better on your 'off' days than I'll ever be on my 'on' days... Keep 'em coming! 👍 You want 60 cycle hum and noise? Try playing in a powerhouse control room full of computers and 10 away from one of the 2 isophases that carry 170 megawatts/each! You'll getcher noise there!
I'd get the hss even though I already have a yamaha, hss strat-like-object...

@chadnikolaus87932 years ago Got the HSS Player Plus Siverburst, which I love. Now I want to play some of that surfer music, for real. Very cool. 1
  • @
@ianstu73 years ago Looks great, sounds good. I'm not gonna pretend like I'm in love with the noiseless pickups, but the humbucker sounds great.
  • @
@bcrocks39353 years ago Just bought this exact guitar today! Now my biggest problem is finding a reason to keep keeping any of my other guitars besides my active pickup metal monster! This thing is tops! 2
  • @
@MarcCoteMusic3 years ago Two of my Strats are MiMs. The newer is my main guitar and has been from the time I got it. MiMs have been excellent for quite a long time. This one, though, is truly gorgeous. I love metallic finishes and green is my favourite colour, so you can imagine how much I want one of these. ... 13

  • @
@bradpittiful72883 years ago your pick attack is awesome...that color is fantastic...that strat could be the most versatile with the ability to split it 2
  • @
@triplelindys3 years ago I played one that config and even that color at my local guitar store. Felt and sounded killer.
  • @
@jfinester3 years ago Normally I’d pick the SSS configuration. However that bridge humbucker sounds so good split that I think I’d go with the HSS version. 23
  • @
@Casey3-P-O2 years ago I got the SSS player plus in Olympic pearl with a tortoiseshell pickguard. It's amazing. I only needed to do a slight set up on it after I changed strings (I play 10's) because the bridge was popping out way too high after I changed them, but after watching a couple videos, I can proudly say that I feel slightly comfortable doing that now. I've been practicing on some of my cheaper guitars as well. But seriously, it's great. Like you said about the color, because mine is very pearlescent, the light hits it so well and it is beautiful. ... 5

@madduey61553 years ago Just ordered me one based off this review. That guitar just looks like a lot of fun 😝
  • @
@Tigershark-qy2gq3 years ago Mine arrived today. I love the mint pickguard on mine so much that I decided not to chance it out for the Emerald Pearl Pickguard I bought. My Tremolo screwed in perfectly and holds tight. I found it needed a lot more screwing in to get it to fully start to tighten up. So tighten up your Trem more Ryan. They aren't loose. ...

@hanszimmer88013 years ago I love this color! Cosmic Jade looks just awesome. Need!
  • @
@draygosound3 years ago A lot of 95/96 MIM strats had Tex-Mex pickups in them which were super hot, if I remember correctly. I have one from that era and it took years to figure out why it sounded weird compared to other MIMs I played. I love the feel of the neck and the weight of the guitar, so I ended up putting GFS 70's voiced pickups in it and it improved the sound immensely. ...
  • @
@DaveyG683 years ago I have a 2015 MIM Telecaster Standard and think it's an excellent guitar. I also have a 2002 Deluxe Powerhouse Strat that I'll never sell. They were great guitars for the price and had good fit and finish especially the Tele. I play Chicago Blues and Classic style Rock N Roll so the tele's stock pickups work well with plenty of bite, with the volume turned up, and chikin' pickin' clean with it turned down. I know I'll be checking out one of the new Player Plus ones soon. Always wanted a Nashville Tele. ...

@thebat69003 years ago Very cool Ryan is there any way you could demo the telecastor from the same line thanks and keep the great videos coming 1

@efx245precor32 years ago Nice playing and shirt. Looking at this players plus series.
  • @
@jfinester2 years ago That Strat really sounds good, even in the humbucker setting. Most humbuckers in HSS Strats go from muddy and dark to thin and overly bright. This one doesn’t—it sounds good either way. And the metallic green finish looks cool. Normally I’d have gone for the SSS configuration, but I’d make an exception for this one. My favorites from this new Mexican series are the 3-pickup Teles, but I’ve already got a US-made Tele like that, a ‘98 American Deluxe. The best of both worlds! Regarding the push/pull knob on the Strat, I’ve had the same problem with Strat knobs—the fluting makes it hard to grab. A rubber O-ring of the right size that can fit on the top portion of the knob can help, but it won’t look vintage. You’d probably have to glue the O-ring in place. ... 1

@edryba48673 years ago I have a ‘99 MIM Strat that was modified by my luthier. He threw Fender’s wiring away and redid it HIS WAY. It now has a Seymour split humbucker, and even the 2 Fender pickups that are left are quieter than Fender’s low noise pickups! ... 7

@rick007703 years ago Just got a sunburst strat player HSS, hadn’t had a decent guitar in a while. Really impressed. Good review. Gave 740.00 at guitar center. Subscribed.

@sooperheep3 years ago for over $1,000 it better be a major improvement over the standard mex strat 15

@MrScrofulous3 years ago I'm not really surprised. My MIM Strat from about 5 yr ago is a great guitar. My Morello sig has a fantastic neck. I love the green !! It is stunning.
  • @
@Giitzerlandlast year From what I've learned about the Player Plus, these body's are pre routed for HSH if you ever wanted to change the neck PU out. Also, it'is super easy to switch out different configs, you can have SSS, HSS, or HSH, it's all a relatively simple pickguard/pickup swap. ... 1

@Tonetwisters8 months ago RE: Wiggly wiggle stick. Try a 4mm ball bearing in that trem hole, followed by one of those tiny little springs, right on top of it. You can usually put your gear shift arm right where you want it without "wiggle". Probably need to change the little spring out every so often, though ... ...

@baloubear2 months ago Awesome video and I’ve just ordered that very guitar in mint condition for studio and live work (who wants to take a ‘63 to a gig?!). Already have the same coloured Tele Plus. The push pull on the tele is a lot easier though, and I will add a push-push on the hum bucket on the Strat. Great video mate. Greetings from Scotland. ...

@octaviotorresin11983 years ago Greetings from Argentina. Few months ago i purchased a Fender Stratocaster Deluxe Player HSS or Deluxe Strat acording to fender's web page. It's an awesome guitar, locking tuners, noiseless pickups(middle and neck), humbucker, s-1 Switch, 2 points bridge tremolo and also the contour where the neck is screwed. It's like an 2010 Fender american deluxe strat but the big diference is the saddles in the bridge and the headstock. Aside from that everything is the same. ...

@09philj3 years ago The Nashville Telecaster from this line with an extra Strat pickup looks interesting. I wonder whether there's a Player Plus Jazzmaster, Jaguar, and/or Mustang still to come? 12

@joellebrodeur10153 years ago Nice seeing the Donner Circle Looper in action.
  • @
@JohnGadzaJr.2 weeks ago In my honest opinion, those Fender MIM Stratocasters have always been the greatest for so many years now. Way back in the good old days, you could buy any Fender MIM Stratocaster dirt cheap whether they were new or used and those were the best electric guitar models for beginners out there who didn't want the cheaper stuff such as Squier or any other Strat copies that were not Fender brand related. I have always wanted to own a Fender MIM Stratocaster but I never had the chance to own one. Maybe someday. Who knows. Otherwise, great video and review. ... 1

@DarthEcoli3 years ago The first Player Plus I've seen prior to this video was the Tele and thought: Are they reissuing the old 80s and 90s Plus line again, but on the MiM Player series? This Strat looks like it's a yes AND no answer.
For those not familiar with the Fender Strat and Tele Plus series, they were released around 1987 to 1998-ish. The PLUS implies 22 frets when back then, they only had 21 frets. They all had Lace sensors (gold on the standard Pluses, Red, blue and silver on the Plus Deluxes which is referred to as Rainbow sensors, and I think blue and purple with a dual coil in the bridge of the Plus Ultras.
They had the bridge and saddles just like this Player Plus, and a Hipshot style tremsetter above the springs, TBX controls on the bottom tone knob, and locking tuners.
After this original Plus series ended, they stopped using Lace sensors altogether and just use these noiseless pickups now. The Fender Noiseless pickups are really good though and Lace sensors are hit or miss with many people. I have a 96 Strat Plus and love the gold lace sensors.
With that said, it does look like they were going for the old Plus reissue, but nixed the tremsetter and lace sensors. Whose to say if these have TBX controls, but it would be cool. Despite not a faithful reissue, I think I like these and would rock one, and never had a problem with MiMs. I loved my 96 MiM Strat and regret ever selling it. I even liked the pickups on it, lol

@johnou90013 years ago agreed. the hate online for a $1000 MIM guitar is based entirely on the fallacy mexican made guitars can’t possibly be worth that much due to some built-in bias. these are a huge difference from the standard player series. i have the cosmic jade one and my only gripe is that the bridge humbucker is microphonic but i also play at 100dB so… ... 5
