In the southern states of India there is a custom of keeping Golu in homes where they display colorfully decorated dolls during the nine days of Navaratri.
In Tamilnadu during Navaratri people who celebrate the occasion with Golu have to light lamps, offer prasadam/neivedyam and do Pooja both in the mornings and evenings during the 9 days. Any offering with devotion is acceptable to the Gods. But there are specific rice offerings that are made in the mornings for the 9 Navaratri days.
