Now this idea of three more movies being created is not something us fans just came up with! DreamWorks executives were discussing that possibility all the way back in the early 2010s around the time Kung Fu Panda 2 was released. Back then the CEO of DreamWorks Animation, Jeffrey Katzenberg, who was chairman of Walt Disney Studios during the Disney Renaissance and was one of the founders of DreamWorks, explained that there were a total of 6 chapters that were already mapped out for Po’s epic story. Jennifer Yuh Nelson, the head of story on Kung Fu Panda, the director of Kung Fu Panda 2 and the co-director of Kung Fu Panda 3, clearly one of the hearts of the franchise, explained before the third movie released, that they focused on the films one at a time; they truly desired to make a perfect jewel before they considered the future. The other director of Kung Fu Panda 3, Alessandro Carloni, agreed saying that they didn’t want to make the films feel open ended; they wanted each step to be a completed journey, and if a fantastic story presented itself in the future, then they would explore it. Have a magical day, fun people!
