Sabudana vada is cruchy, fried patty made from sabudana. Though it is a fasting recipe, it can be made at any other time. It is a good morning breakfast or evening snack recipe. These are light, crispy and taste just yummy.. Let’s learn to prepare sabudana vada.
Ingredients:
• 1 1/2 cup soaked Sabudana
• 1 medium size boiled, peeled, mashed Potato
• Chilli-ginger paste (4~5 chillies and 1” ginger)
• Finely chopped Coriander leaves
• 2~3 tbsp Roasted peanut powder
• 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
• 1 tbsp Varai flour
• Salt to taste
Method:
• Wash the sabudana well and soak it in water for 3 hours.
• Drain the whole water from it. Keep it covered overnight.
• Take the sabudana in a plate. Mash it up well.
• Add mashed potato, chilli-ginger paste (Ginger optional),
coriander leaves, roasted peanut powder, cumin seeds, varai flour
and salt.
• Mix well. Make dough out of it.
• Grease your hands with oil and make small vadas from the
dough.
• Heat oil in a pan. When oil is enough hot, put the vadas in it
with the help of a spoon.
• Once you put the vadas in hot oil stand aside for a few
seconds as sabudana may pop out of it.
• Fry until the vadas are golden in colour.
• After 3-4 minutes flip the vadas over with the help of fork.
• Fry from other side as well. Remove the vadas in a plate.
• Vadas are ready. You can serve these with coconut chutney or
upawasachi chutney.
